Content Review Process

All health-related content on BFP Calculator follows a structured review process:

1. Drafting: Content is drafted by a writer with domain knowledge of fitness, nutrition, or body composition.
2. Medical review: Health claims are reviewed by a qualified medical professional (see our reviewer profile).
3. Source verification: Every quantitative claim (accuracy percentages, risk thresholds, formula origins) must be traceable to a peer-reviewed study, government health agency, or professional organization.
4. Publication: Content is published only after all three steps are completed and documented.
5. Periodic review: Content is reviewed at least every 12 months, or sooner if new research materially changes prior claims.

Medical Review Scope

Our medical reviewer evaluates content related to body composition, health risk categories, women's health (menstrual cycle, pregnancy, postpartum), low body fat risks, and dietary recommendations. The reviewer verifies that:

• Health claims are supported by cited evidence
• Risk categories align with established medical guidelines (WHO, ACOG, ACSM)
• Content includes appropriate disclaimers for non-diagnostic, informational use
• Special populations (minors, pregnant/nursing women, eating disorder recovery, medical treatment) are clearly flagged
• No claims imply that body fat percentage alone can diagnose, treat, or cure any disease

Source Selection Criteria

We prioritize sources in the following order:

1. Peer-reviewed research: Published in indexed journals (PubMed, Scopus)
2. Government health agencies: WHO, CDC, NIH, FDA
3. Professional organizations: ACSM, ACOG, ACE, NSCA
4. Established references: ExRx.net, university-affiliated resources

We do not cite blogs, commercial fitness websites, or unverified social media claims as primary sources for health-related statements. Product claims and marketing language are clearly separated from evidence-based content.

Update & Correction Policy

We are committed to accuracy. If you find an error or have a correction request:

1. Email [email protected] with the URL and the specific concern.
2. We acknowledge receipt within 5 business days.
3. Verified corrections are published within 14 days, with an update to the page's "Last updated" date.
4. Material corrections (e.g., incorrect risk thresholds, formula errors) are noted on the affected page.

Advertising & Commercial Disclosure

BFP Calculator is a free tool supported by display advertising. We do not accept paid placements for calculator results, health claims, or product endorsements. Advertising is clearly separated from editorial content. Sponsored content, if ever introduced, will be explicitly labeled as such.

Our calculators do not require signup, email, or payment. User measurement data is stored locally in the browser and is never transmitted to or stored on our servers.
